The 2016 Salute to Valor Speaker is Bill Suchy who wrote,
produced and directed Silver Wings / Flying Dreams: The Complete
Story of the Women Air Force Service Pilots. It is a feature
documentary that tells the story of pioneering women, who for a
brief moment in the darkest days of WWII, were able to shatter
the glass ceiling and defy the convention that women had no
place in the cockpit of a military aircraft. Surviving WASP
relive their personal experiences and the challenges they faced
while ferrying aircraft, flying as test pilots and towing
targets for live anti-aircraft practice. |
